During the second business breakfast of the last week, on April 12, CFA Association Russia looked into the benefits of financial data visualization using the business intelligence system Power BI.

Mazars Russia’s own experts, Ali-Sultan Kirgizbaev and Iurii Piunov, gave a presentation about Microsoft’s business analytics service, Power BI. The software helps to create interactive business reports for investment analysts using a pretty simple user interface.

This was a hands-on presentation during which the speakers showed a CFA Russia audience how to use the software from the get-go.

After logging into a test account, Ali-Sultan and Iurii spent over an hour explaining various analysis and report visualization techniques available in Power BI.

Some key takeaways from the presentation included analysis of real-time data from various online and offline sources, visualizing the composition of portfolios, consolidation of large amounts of data from different sources into one report and other important skills.
