At the final stages of the CFA Institute Research Challenge competition, with all things being equal, a team’s ability to deliver a vivid presentation and connect with an audience can be the difference between winning and losing.

The victory of a team from Moscow State University, representing CFA Association Russia, at the 2019 EMEA Regional Finals earlier this month was no accident. The hard work and dedication of all the members of the team, including Professor Sergey Studnikov and the industry mentor, Ilya Gurov, CFA, are without a doubt the major factors of the team’s success. However, one should not forget about the important contribution of a public speaking coach, Yulia Chernykh, who had helped to polish the students’ public speaking skills and body language prior to the finals.

CFA Russia organized two public speaking training sessions for both Russian teams that competed in the EMEA Regional final. Over a short time, Chernykh, a graduate of one of Moscow’s leading theater schools, was able to boost the students’ confidence and improve their body language, turning them into better public speakers.
